A Bit About Me
Jacob is an up and coming period flautist, who specialises in baroque and classical flutes (1 keyed and 6 keyed flutes), as well as the recorder. He has recently graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Historical Performance—Honours), completed with the guidance of Melissa Farrow. Jacob has appeared with several historically-informed ensembles including the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Early Music Ensemble (under Dr Erin Helyard and Dr Neal Peres da Costa), the St James Bach Band, St Paul’s College Chamber Orchestra, The Euterpe Project, the Australian Haydn Ensemble Emerging Artists and the Australian Brandenburg Emerging Artists. In addition to his performance credits, Jacob is also an avid early music scholar, currently working alongside Dr Erin Helyard as the Music Assistant & Assistant to the Artistic Director at Pinchgut Opera and as a Surtitle Supervisor & Operator with Opera Australia—positions he has held for the last few years.

Pinchgut Opera is an early opera company based in Sydney, Australia, bringing new interpretations of 17th & 18th century operatic works to the mainstage. Jacob has held the position of Music Assistant, Assistant to the Artistic Director & Surtitle Operator since 2019.
The Australian Haydn Ensemble (AHE), under the direction of Artistic Director Skye McIntosh, is one of Australia’s leading historically informed orchestras and chamber music groups. Jacob has worked both as a Music Assistant and Production Assistant for the Australian Haydn Ensemble.
Opera Australia is the principal opera company in Australia. Based in Sydney, New South Wales, with its residence in the world-class Sydney Opera House. Jacob has worked on numerous shows with Opera Australia as a Surtitle Supervisor & Surtitle Operator, including shows such as the HOSH production of Madame Butterfly (Puccini); La Traviata (Verdi); Orpheus & Eurydice (Gluck) co-production with Opera Queensland; Theodora co-production with Pinchgut Opera (Handel).
